Maureen Guerry Obituary

Maureen Ryan Guerry of Signal Mountain, TN, formerly of Needham and Brewster, MA, died following an accident in her home in December 2025. She was 70 years old.

Maureen graduated from Needham High School in 1973 and was a proud member of the Class of 1977 at the College of the Holy Cross, where she was a member of the varsity track and cross-country teams and participated on the gymnastics team before graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in economics. She was a lifetime member of the Holy Cross President’s Council and was the first alumna to serve as chair of the President’s Council. Maureen was also a member of the Holy Cross Board of Trustees from 1998 to 2001.

After earning an MBA with a focus in information technology from the Wharton School of Business in 1982, Maureen worked mainly in the banking and entertainment industries, such as First Interstate Bank, TMI Systems, and Lorimar Pictures. However, she eventually left her career behind to care for her children, becoming a dedicated tennis/dance/cheer mom. 

Maureen is survived by her former husband, J. Pemberton “Pem” Guerry of Chattanooga, TN; her son, Sean Guerry of Chattanooga, TN; and her daughter, Colleen Gray, who lives in Nashville, TN, with her husband, Bretton. Maureen also leaves behind her siblings – including Mary Pat Joy and her husband, William, of Wellesley; Elinor Devlin of Brewster; John Ryan Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Sudbury; Thomas Ryan and his wife, Patricia, of Holden; Susan O’Toole and her husband, Preston, of Walpole; and Christine McCarthy and her husband, Sean, of Brewster – along with more than 30 nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Maureen was preceded in death by her parents, John “Bud” Ryan and Helen Ryan; her sister, Jean Ryan; her aunts, Marjorie Zopf, Elinor Ryan, Claire Nead, and Mary Barrett; uncles Thomas Judge, Walter Judge, David Judge and Robert Judge; and her nephews, Timothy (Tanz) Kane and Johnny Guerry.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 16 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 1360 Highland Avenue, Needham, MA. Visiting hours will take place from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, January 15 at Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Avenue, Needham.

Very sad news. I graduated with Maureen from Holy Cross in 1977. Deepest sympathies to the Ryan clan.
