DELL'ERARIO, Nicholas J. Age 60, of Anthem, AZ, on August 13, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Melissa (Robinson) Dell'Erario. Devoted father of Nicole Dell'Erario of Salem, MA and Tommy Dell'Erario of Anthem. Admired brother of Amy Hodges of Colorado Springs, CO, Diana Maynard of Duxbury, MA and John Dell'Erario of Newton, MA. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Raised in Needham, MA, he was a 1973 graduate of Needham High School and a 1977 graduate of Bates College. A stellar multisport athlete in both high school and college, Nick received many honors and accolades for his exploits in the football, hockey and baseball arenas. Notably, he finished his baseball career at Bates by placing second in the country in batting average and achieving the All-American designation. For the past 14 years, Nick was employed as a Director at Arizona Research Center in Phoenix. In spite of all the recognition for his achievements in sports, Nick's greatest satisfaction was enjoying the simple companionship of his family and friends. As anyone who has spent time with him will attest, Nick had a talent for finding humor in any situation. A celebration of his life for friends in the Boston area will be held on September 27. So sad to hear about this. I'll always remember the "quick kick" Nick did and hit a Needham player right in the ass with the ball. His smile was infectious and will always the way I remember him.
